Riverside Energy Audits
A great new program is being launched by Riverside Public Utilities that people should take advantage of before the funding is exhausted
- Whole House Rebate Program will pay for the majority of the cost associated with Energy & Water efficiency upgrades (up to $7,000)
- Reduce operating costs up to 35% compared to a standard home
- Improvements are still eligible for a federal tax credit up to $1,500
- Net cost to homeowners will typically be recouped in one summer’s utility savings
Under the currently proposed format the program will use a point system to incentivize customers to perform a comprehensive retrofit to their home. If a homeowner accumulates enough points they will be eligible to receive up to 350% of the rebate amount.
To Date REEIS has retrofitted more than 100 Riverside homes. Annualized that is more than:
- 60,000 KwH of savings
- $45,000 worth of energy savings
- Reduced carbon emissions by nearly 50 tons
- Equivalent of planting more than 250 trees
To achieve the maximum number of points, customers will need to bundle items like duct sealing, house envelope sealing, attic fans, light bulbs, landscaping, and appliances.
REEIS (residential energy efficiency improvement specialists) helps homeowners navigate the energy efficiency landscape by providing comprehensive evaluations of the home, determining appropriate energy efficiency improvements and by making the repairs to improve the homes performance. After completion of the home improvements, REEIS then facilitates the rebate and tax credit process.
